It is my absolute favorite time of year!!  With the season changes, comes the brilliant autumn colors. This is the perfect time to take a walk here in the PNW. When you do, keep your eyes peeled for little libraries that have over the past few years, popped up all over the place. From residential areas to downtown Olympia, I have found these little jewels. I still feel as giddy as I did when I was a young child at the library with a stack of new books to dive into.

Taking the little ones for an afternoon walk in downtown Olympia after lunch one day last week at the beautiful Parkside Café in Olympia, we came across another adorable Little Library that, when you have the time, you should check out. There is a gravelly garden path leading past grapevines and vegetable boxed gardens to the little library which has a wooden stepping stair for the little ones to use so they can explore the books inside themselves.

Where have you found little libraries at? Did you know you could download the Little Library app which is now available for iOS and Android?! Get the app (it’s free!) using the links below. You can also click here to download the app in the App Store for iOS devices or click here to download the app in the Play Store for Android devices. The Little Free Library app makes it easy to find little library locations near you. You can get directions to the nearest ones, create routes, and save your favorites. Track the libraries you visit using the handy check-ins feature.

If you want to start a Little Free Library book exchange like we did in our neighborhood with our neighborhood kiddos, you can check out more info HERE!

The list of not-so-spooky stories to read to your children or even save for later when you have a moment to read yourself:

Who doesn't love a good pirate story? This story is one of the famous Captain Kidd and his pirates! Check it out here!

You can find 30 not so scary ghost stories for kids HERE in this article by Leah Singer!

And for the teens and adults in the crowd, check out one of Powell's Picks of the Season.

The Staff Pick I am most excited about is Fairy Tale by Stephen King.
In this difficult world we're in, sometimes we want to wrap ourselves in the fantastic lands and breath and story that Stephen King can bring. Fairy Tale is such a place. It is all we know, but covered with the beautiful skin of King's imagination. Recommended By Doug C., Powells.com
