I just wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself as the new Publisher of our region's Macaroni Kid newsletter. My name is Laura and I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place where nature beckons, farmers' markets are bountiful and the family-friendly experiences to enjoy are boundless. I transplanted here from Texas a few years ago and haven't stop exploring since! I love to go geocaching while hiking with our Doberman rescue, Lucy. When at home, I love to bake and take care of all my houseplants.
Olympia Macaroni KID is one of the best online resources for helping you decide where in the PNW your family should explore each week throughout the year. Whether it is hiking in Squaxin Park (formerly Priest Point Park), visiting the Flight museum in Tumwater, joining a meet and greet in Wonderwood Park in Lacey or going to a new craft shop near Yelm, we have you covered with the how, why, when and where of every event we can get our hands on!

Each Wednesday, we send an e-newsletter filled with family-friendly local events, so please take a moment to add us to your address book (mackidolympia@macaronikid.com). If you are a Gmail user, you'll want to move us into your "Primary" mailbox. Email me anytime with any suggestions, comments and local events that I can showcase for you and your neighborhood.
A few things to know:
- Each week you'll find 50+ local events, most of them FREE. As you see events your family might enjoy, use the Add to Google Calendar or the Add to Apple Calendar buttons to build your personalized shortlist of possible weekly events to enjoy with your family and friends.
- We love guest authors! Does your family have a favorite local hike, never fail recipe/activity/craft/parenting nugget of wisdom worth sharing? Be our guest! Email mackidolympia@macaronikid.com for details.
- "Like Us" on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram for giveaways, schedule changes, small business introductions, and event suggestions. Follow us on YouTube. Find ideas to plan parties, feed your family, get creative, and more by following our Pinterest boards.
- You can submit free events that are appropriate for families on the website to add to our calendar. Email me anytime for the quickest response!
