Healthy Kids Running Series- South Sound Goes Virtual

NEW INFORMATION ON EVENT

By Michelle Maestas, Publisher/Editor April 3, 2020

In an effort to maintain our mission of inspiring kids to lead an active healthy lifestyle, especially in these challenging times, Healthy Kids Running Series is going Virtual this spring!

Each participant will still get to race their age appropriate distance, upload their time, receive the new T-Shirt and earn their new spring-only medal.  The only difference is your child(ren) can race from wherever you choose (safe place, please) and do it together with your family.

Healthy Kids’ decision to go virtual helps kids stay active and allows us to continue to serve our communities in the future.  HKRS, like other non-profits, relies on community support. I am asking you to join me in keeping our Vision, Mission & Values alive.

HKRS is providing families the option to participate in our Virtual Series or defer your current registration to either the fall or 2021 spring Series.  If you join the rest of your community to race virtually, you do not have to do anything. If you decide to defer to a future season, please fill out this Google Form which will be sent to HKRS headquarters.  If you have extenuating circumstances, please reach out to your local Community Coordinator.

Healthy Kids Virtual is an adaptation of the usual HKRS Race Day experience! HKRS believes in leading an active healthy lifestyle.  During the time of social distancing, it is important that parents encourage children to stay active!

A Virtual Race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog or walk on the grass, on the sidewalk, on the trail, on the treadmill or on the track. Your child will run their age appropriate race distance, at their own pace, and Mom and Dad record the time! Parents then upload the time after each race into the Series specific results sheet found on our Results Page.  Families can also choose their own start and finish line, or if available, use an existing one provided by HKRS! Don't forget to run the Parent Mile on Week 5 Mom and Dad!

Share your running photos with our virtual community!
